Columbus Crew scored a little bit early in the first leg of their Eastern Conference Championship against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. Iraq national team Justin Meram scored a goal at 10 seconds into the game which is the fastest goal in MLS Cup playoff history. They shock the Red Bulls, the Supporters' Shield winner and No. 1 overall seed with a 2-0 home victory.
At the opening kickoff Kei Kamara was able to get the ball and pass the ball forward into the 18-yard box and into the path of a sprinting Ethan Finlay. Finlay controlled the ball before colliding into Red Bull defenders Kemar Lawrence and Matt Miazga. However, Finlay was able to nudge the ball to the running Meram. Meram got the loose ball and fired a relentless strike into a helpless goalkeeper Luis Robles for the stunning 1-0 lead.
