Borussia Dortmund bolster midfield ranks with promising young German international Felix Nmecha

Borussia Dortmund have bolstered their midfield ranks with the signing of young German international Felix Nmecha from Wolfsburg. The 22-year old has joined on a five-year contract through to 2027 in a transfer believed to be worth around €8 million.

Nmecha comes to Dortmund with a growing reputation as one of Germany's top young midfield talents. Though born in England, Nmecha represents Germany at youth international level and has earned two caps for the senior national team to date.

Nmecha came through Manchester City's youth academy before joining Wolfsburg in 2017. He made his first-team debut for Wolfsburg in 2019 and has gradually become a more regular feature in their side over the past two seasons, making 43 Bundesliga appearances in total.

Nmecha operates as a box-to-box midfielder who is strong on the ball, possesses good passing ability and has an eye for goal. He scored eight goals across all competitions for Wolfsburg last season.

Speaking of his move to Dortmund, Nmecha said: "I want to take the next step. I think the squad, the coaches and everything around them is really good... I had a good feeling right from the start and am very happy."

Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said Nmecha has "outstanding footballing qualities" and described him as a "dynamic and versatile central midfielder who will give our game new impulses with his presence."

If Nmecha can continue his development at Dortmund, the young German could prove an astute signing and provide much needed reinforcement in midfield for BVB. His arrival also continues Dortmund's tactic of targeting promising young German talent to build for the future.

Who will win Thursday's Europa League clash between Club Brugge and Manchester United?

Manchester United will be going to Belgium on Thursday night for the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie with Club Brugge. They have cruised through the group stages and are the second favorites to win the match behind Italian giants Inter Milan. Neymar Paris Saint-Germain debut Versus Guingamp

 

Neymar will be making his Paris St-Germain debut after French football authorities received clearance following his £200m world record move from Barcelona. The 25-year-old forward can play for the Ligue 1 side at Guingamp on Sunday.

The hold up was down to a delay in the arrival of the Brazilian player's international transfer certificate from Spanish football authorities. At a pre-match news conference, PSG boss Unai Emery said Neymar was "physically ready to start" the game. Brazilian Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona last week.

Neymar will be facing Bafana midfielder Lebogang Phiri when Guimgamp host Paris Saint-Germain in their Ligue 1 fixture on Sunday night.

Phiri, who joined Guimgamp on free transfer from Danish side Brondby last month, made his Ligue 1 debut and played the full game as they beat FC Metz 3-1 in their opening round fixture last week.

San Antonio FC Ties Sacramento Republic FC

San Antonio FC bounced back from its first loss of the season by tying Sacramento Republic FC. It was forward AJ Ajeakwa’s goal in the 31st minute that evened things at 1-1 tie Saturday against Sacramento Republic FC in a United Soccer League match before 11,569 at Papa Murphy’s Park in Sacramento, California. It was off a pass from midfielder Kris Tyrpak. Tyrpak was able to slipped pass behind the Sacramento that Ajeakwa, who nearly stumbled on the play, put to the left post past Sacramento goalkeeper Evan Newton.

San Antonio FC improved to 10-1-5 (35 points) and is now in second place in the USL Western Conference, only two points behind Real Monarchs SLC (12-2-1, 37 points), which lost to the Tulsa Roughnecks FC 2-0 on Saturday.

Sacramento made the first goal when Emrah Klimenta ran onto a pass from Danny Barrera and put a shot inside the right post past San Antonio FC goalkeeper Lee Johnston.

Ghanaian Sulley Muntari Says 2018 World Cup will "bring peace"

Sulley Muntari of Ghana, who plays for Pescara in Italy's Serie A, wants to see change from FIFA and UEFA, he said they should provide more support for players who have been racially abused.

Muntari was suspended last month when he receive his second yellow card for leaving the pitch in a match at Cagliari. Though the decision was later overturned, it exemplified the limitations put on racially abused players like Muntari who appealed to the referee to take action before taking matters into his own hands.

"I am pleading to FIFA, UEFA, whoever, (to) look into things like this, because, most (players) get abused but they can't say anything," Muntari told CNN

In Bahrain, the FIFA Council "expressed its concern at recent high-profile incidents of racism and emphasized that member associations and referees should be ready to adopt a strict policy to deal with incidents of racist nature.

It's not just the level of support offered by the football authorities that has been troubling Muntari, who reveals that he received little support from his own Pescara teammates during and after the match.

"No one said anything and I wasn't expecting anybody to say anything," the 32-year-old says. "I look at certain things, I get really angry with them. Because your teammates are your family, (whether) you like it or not.

"You see them every day and for them to turn their back on you was something not very pleasant."
Muntari approached a section of the stands where he says he heard racial chants, and offered his jersey to a young fan as a symbolic gesture before storming off the pitch with just minutes left to play.

Match officials in Italy are required to temporarily stop play and issue warnings to put a curb on racist behavior. Muntari says the fourth official confirmed he heard abuse from a section of the crowd, but tthe second yellow card left him "feeling like a criminal."

"I think it is a good thing that Russia is going to host the next World Cup," said Muntari.
"They will show that maybe all Russians aren't racist. The world will see another part of Russia, and Russia will see another part of the world. They will mingle with different kinds of people, different kinds of states."

"FIFA has done well, because you can't run from your problems. You have to tackle (them)," he says.
"I have no doubt that the World Cup there is going to be amazing, and is going to bring a lot of people together, and peace."

Highest Paid Players in MLS 2017 Kaka On Top

Orlando City captain Kaka is still the highest-paid player in MLS for a third straight season, this  according to figures released Tuesday by the MLS Players Union. He has $7.168 in guaranteed compensation topping Toronto FC star Sebastian Giovinco $7.116 million.

The report also stated that Chicago Fire newcomer Bastian Schweinsteiger is being paid $5.4 million for this season, while Atlanta United spent over $3 million combined for the DP tandem of Miguel Almiron and Josef Martineznot including their transfer fees.

Michael Bradley remains the highest-paid American in the league, with a $6.5 million salary.

2017 Africa Cup of Nations: Cameroon Wins over Egypt 2-1

Vincent Aboubakar late goal gave Cameroon their first African title since 2002. Despite many of their top stars boycotting the Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon have shocked the continent to win the title, defeating Egypt 2-1 on Sunday. Toronto FC Defeated Montreal Advance to MLS Cup

Toronto FC went out to the field and proved to the world what they've got by beating the Montreal Impact 5-2 (7-5 on aggregate) in the MLS Eastern Conference final Wednesday to advance to MLS Cup in an epic battle that needed extra time at BMO Field.

It was a rollercoaster 5-2 victory for Toronto FC. It was two substitutes that decided the game. TFC substitute Benoit Cheyrou scored moments after coming on for the injured Sebastian Giovinco during the extra session, and fellow sub Tosaint Ricketts put the game away two minutes later.

Toronto moves on to host the Seattle Sounders on December 10 in the league's championship match.

US Soccer Team Humiliated by Costa Rica 4-0

The United States men’s national soccer team was embarrassed by Costa Rica demolishing them 4-0 in National Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica on Tuesday for the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers. The U.S. men's team drop to an 0-2 record in the final round of World Cup qualifying for Russia 2018, worsen its competitive record in San Jose to 0-9-1 and in Costa Rica overall to 0-9-2, and extend its qualifying losing streak in the Central American nation to 31 years.

Their performance were frustrating,, error filled and disheveling. Four days ago, they also loss at home against Mexico in a narrow 2-1 game in Columbus, Ohio.

Costa Rica took the lead 2 minutes before half time when Johan Venegas rose unchallenged. In the second half, Costa Rica pushed the game and widen the lead as Christian Bolanos scored in 69 minutes and Joel Campbell got a pair of goals. The US team cannot even keep possession for long.

The result leaves Klinsmann's U.S. bottom of the six-team group alongside Trinidad and Tobago.

Costa Rica, meanwhile, top the so-called Hexagonal, the only side to win both their opening games.

The top three teams after the 10 home-and-away matches qualify automatically for Russia 2018, while the fourth-placed side goes into a play-off with a team from Asia.

Mexico, who drew 0-0 with Panama in a dull match in the isthmus, have four points, the same as Panama.

Canada defeated Australia 2-0 in Women's soccer. Janine Beckie of Canada recorded the fastest goal, she scored 20 seconds into the Canada's Olympic opener against Australia. Beckie’s goal is the fastest in Olympic soccer history, men’s or women’s. The men’s record is held by Mexico’s Oribe Peralta.

Ronaldo-less Portugal Upset France in Euro 2016 final to win first major title

No Cristiano Ronaldo? No problem! Even though Cristiano Ronaldo have to leave the field early in the first half with a knee injury Portugal found a way to upset the heavily favored French. Portugal which just won one of its 7 games in France during regulation, won the European Championship with a 1-0 extra-time win over the hosts on Sunday, thanks to a late, long strike from Eder.

“We said we would win it for him,” Portugal defender Pepe said of Ronaldo. “And we managed to win it for him.”

The French were unrelenting with their pressure against Portugal that forced them to make mistakes from their very first possession. Portugal could not even hold on possession for more than a pass or two. Basically, France got most of the possession of the first-half. Unfortunately for France they could not convert its first-half dominance into a goal. Portugal was able to slow the game in the second half, which became something of a stalemate. France shift their rabid play in the first half for more methodical attacks. But Portugal were able to contain them.

The French did find an opening, in the 109th minute, Eder surprisingly was left with too much room to shoot in a quick transition outside the box. He let loose and snuck a bouncer past Lloris.

Eder said after the game “He (Ronaldo) told me I was going to score the winning goal.”

Lionel Messi fans were disappointed Monday night at Levi’s Stadium when their favorite soccer star who is argubly best soccer player in the world didn't play in the Argentina Copa América match against Chile.

Messi is sufferring from a sore back he got from a hard blow in a game last May 27. Well, Argentina didn't need Messi to beat Chile, they won, 2-1, scoring two 2nd half goals in quick succession before Chile notched one in stoppage time.

However, it seems fans who attended the game don't care about the match they just want to see Messi play. Most of them bought tickets because of Messi.

The cheapest tickets at the Copa América is at $50 and the parking around Levi’s Stadium on Monday was running as high as $50.

U.S. Men’s Soccer Team VS Guatemala Live Stream

The United States Men’s National Soccer Team needs redemption after the team's numbing loss at the hands of Guatemala 2-0 last Friday night in a World Cup qualifying match. Neymar Tricked Goalkeeper In Penalty Kick: Game ended in a draw 2-2 Barcelona vs Villarreal

Barcelona's 2nd goal came from Neymar, he literally tricked the goalkeeper that resulted to a penalty kick goal for Barcelona. He did a fancy move running fast to the right side of the box, he was fouled by goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo. Neymar got the Penalty Kick, and Lionel Messi let him take it.

Greek Cup Cancelled Due to Crowd Violence

ATHENS, March 3 - The government of Greece decided to cancel this season's Greek Cup on Thursday after the first leg of the semi-final between PAOK Salonika and Olympiakos Piraeus was stopped because of crowd violence.

The ruckus started after a penalty was denied to PAOK in last Wednesday's match. PAOK's players and supporters did not agree by the decision and started the violence as large groups of fans rushed onto the pitch, hurling flares and missiles before being dispersed by riot police.

Greece's deputy minister for sport Stavros Kontonis said that he recommended the halting of all competitive soccer in Greece, however the Super League and the rest of the professional soccer divisions will continue.

He raised concerns about refereeing appointments for key matches and called on the country's football federation to provide "meaningful answers."

"In view of...this mayhem in football grounds and a huge disturbance of the social peace and legal order in general, the government has decided to definitively cancel any process and match related to the Greek Cup as provided for by the law," the government said in a statement.

"The government is closely monitoring developments and those who do not take seriously our policies should be aware that we will not hesitate to make further decisions on these matters."

AEK Athens were due to host Atromitos in the first leg of the other semi-final on Thursday. The home side released a short media statement saying the match had been cancelled.

Red Bulls Defender Matt Miazga To Join Chelsea

U.S. international and New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga hone his skills in Red Bulls Academy that made him the anchor of the team’s back line. Now he is on his way to Premier League side Chelsea according to ESPN.

He has less than a year to run on his current contract with the Red Bulls, and given his desire to test himself overseas, New York was left with little choice but to sell now rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the 2016 MLS season.

According to the Daily Mail the transfer fee is approximately $5 million. Miazga also possesses a Polish passport, meaning he will not have to obtain a work permit.

Miazga is currently with the U.S. national team. The U.S. National team will have an exhibition game against Iceland on January 31 and Canada on February 5. According to reports, Miazga has already departed and is on his way to England, where he will undergo a medical and then join up with his new club.

Copa America Centenario, Draw on February in New York

MIAMI BEACH, Florida - The 2016 Copa America Centenario draw will be held in New York on February 21. Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and the United States are all seeded in the 16-nation tournament that will be played at 10 venues in the U.S. from June 3-26.

The other 12 teams will be spread among the four groups: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Jamaica, Haiti, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

The United States plays in the opener at Santa Clara, California. The final is at East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Lionel Messi wins 5th FIFA Ballon d'Or, Greatest Of All Time (GOAT)

Lionel Messi has cemented his place as soccer's Greatest Of All Time (GOAT). He won his 5th FIFA Ballon d'Or.

Now you can no longer debate Messi's talent and achievements. A lot of people specially his fans already knew that he's the best ever, before he was awarded his fifth FIFA Ballon d'Or award. Even if from time to time his greatest nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo interrupted him. Messi is only 28 years old he can still do much more.

Messi had 41.33% of the vote, with Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo (27.76%) second and Barca's Neymar (7.86%) third. Either Messi or Ronaldo, who became a three-time winner last year, have won the past eight awards.
